Born 1971. PhD (Hist.), Director of The Polish Institute of International Affairs, Editor-in-Chief of Polski Przegląd Dyplomatyczny [Polish Diplomatic Review] and the Russian Language Quarterly Europe - www. pism.pl/europa (Since 2001). He joined the Institute in 2000 as a analyst on Russian Foreign Policy (2000-2001), then promoted to the post of a coordinator of the Research Program : “Poland and its neighbours” (2001 – 2002), head of the Research Office (2002 – 2007) and Deputy Director of the Institute and Acting Director. Dr. Debski’s key areas of expertise include : Polish Foreign Policy, External Policy of the EU, Russian Foreign Policy, German-Russian Relations, NATO and the global security, last but not least, history of diplomacy. He frequently briefs experts, political leaders and journalists from across the World. Dr. Debski appears regularly as a foreign policy analyst and political commentator on national and international media, including TVN24, Polish Radio, BBC, Le Monde, Niezawisimaya Gazieta.
Dr. Debski received his Ph.D. in history from The Jagiellonian University in 2002. He has two master’s degrees from the Jagiellonian University (1995) and Central European University (Budapest, 1993). He is an author of the study on Soviet-German Relations 1939-1941 (Published in 2003), awarded the historical book of the year by the Society of History Book Publishers. The author of historical book of the year by the Przegląd Wschodni (the Eastern Review) in 2004.
